Editte and Mark: Rain and Romance at a Historic Downtown Courthouse

There’s something undeniably special about courthouse weddings. Sure, there’s no grand aisle or ballroom, but the quiet beauty of an intimate courthouse wedding speaks volumes—especially when the focus is entirely on the couple.

Editte and Mark’s wedding at the historic downtown Fort Worth courthouse captured all the authenticity and raw emotion of a “big” wedding day, just in a beautifully simple way. Even with the rain coming and going, Editte and Mark embraced each moment, showing that sometimes the simplest celebrations leave the deepest memories.

Courthouse weddings are often more heartfelt and full of love than people expect. For couples who choose this route, it’s not just about having a small ceremony; it’s about stripping away the fuss and focusing on what matters most. Editte and Mark’s day was no different. With openness and ease, they rolled with whatever the day brought, and that flexible, carefree attitude set the tone for a truly memorable celebration.

As we got closer to their wedding day, we were all keeping an eye on the weather forecast, which showed rain throughout the day. We hoped that unpredictable Texas weather might throw us a sunny surprise, but it wasn’t in the cards. Still, Editte and Mark had the best outlook and embraced the day as it was. With umbrellas in hand, we were off to capture all the emotion and small moments that make courthouse weddings so special.

We started things off inside with photos at the courthouse staircase before moving outside to brave rain in front of the courthouse’s grand columns, capturing the charm and timeless feel of the historic building. With dramatic architecture in the background, the courthouse provided an elegance that added character to every image. But being in downtown Fort Worth also meant plenty of cars were passing by constantly, which could have been a source of stress. Instead, it turned into a fun game to see how many photos we could snap (and kisses they could sneak in) before the light changed and the next wave of cars drove by!

While the weather wasn’t perfect, it only added to the experience. As photographers, we often find it’s the “imperfect” days that stand out in memory, the little unexpected moments that make each wedding feel unique.

If you’re considering a courthouse wedding, take a page from Editte and Mark’s book. Don’t stress over the small things—whether it’s the weather or a last minute change of plans. Remember, the day is about the two of you, and that’s all that truly matters. Sometimes, the simplest weddings leave the most lasting memories.
